TravelCon OC is this Saturday 2/28/15 in Anaheim and we’re hard at work to ensure everyone will have a great time! A few people have emailed me with questions and I wanted to take the time to clarify a few things before the event starts.First of all, parking during the event is free right outside the hotel. Our conference will be from 9am to 5pm, but really you can be out there from early morning until the evening. Overnight parking, on the other hand, will be extra and have to be settled at the front desk. Most hotels in the Disneyland-area charge for overnight parking as well, but the host hotel (Embassy Suites Anaheim South) has decent rates compared to others.
Second, Tahsir and myself are trying to plan a dinner for after the conference on Saturday evening, and hopefully you received an email from Tahsir a couple of days ago regarding that (if not, check your spam folders). We realize some people have flights that same night so no big deal if you can’t attend, but the more the merrier. There will also be plenty of people hanging around the hotel afterward to socialize.
Third, the guys at UPGRD are holding a meet-up near LAX the night of our conference. Their event is from 6-8PM so Tahsir and I won’t be able to attend due to us managing the TravelCon OC event, but if you’re looking to meet with even more points/miles/travel enthusiasts or are headed towards LAX, this would be a great place to continue the conversation.
Fourth, we’ve received some questions about the breakout sessions planned for the last hour. This time is intended to be a more informal way to speak with not just the presenters, but with everyone else in the room. The other presenters and I all know that people in the audience have just as much information as we do and we think the breakout sessions will be a great way to make sure we get to hear things that might otherwise go unheard. There will be breakouts for manufactured spending, award booking, and more.
Fifth, please bring ID when checking in for the conference. There have been issues in the past with unregistered guests attending conferences like this, and while people like me normally don’t mind this, the hotel will end up charging us more money if this happens and that comes directly out of our pockets. Your ID will help keep costs down for everyone!
Finally, there will be some giveaways! HotelTonight will be present and have some great things to give away and Nonstop Apparel has gifted us some t-shirts to hand out as well. I know at least one presenter mentioned they have a few things to give away, so several of you will leave with more than you arrived with.
If you haven’t signed up yet and are interested in the learning more about advanced manufactured spend techniques, award booking, or even just want to get a taste of the 70 degree weather that Orange County can offer, be sure to register today! Registration will close the night of Friday 2/27/15 and include coffee, lunch, snacks, and tons of knowledge!
