Travel Summary is back. For those that have haven’t been here before, welcome! And for those that have, welcome back. After a several year odyssey that took me first through Boarding Area and most recently through Travel Codex (and even a write-up in Forbes, which was cool for me), Travel Summary has now officially returned.
I won’t go into any boring details as to why except to say that I left Travel Codex on wonderful terms. Scott allowed me the flexibility to continue writing whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, and I didn’t have to deal with those dang IT issues. Now that I’m back several hundred of my (very) old subscribers got emails from posts I wrote dating all the way back to around 2012 by accident. About a hundred of them unsubscribed, too. Sorry…I’m still not good at this tech stuff!
Although I initially brought back all of my content, I decided to cut a bunch of old/dated/irrelevant content to the tune of about 100 posts. What’s left is hopefully a good base from which I can continue to build on going forward.
I’ve learned quite a bit over the years, and I hope to apply all those lessons going forward to improve on what Travel Summary once was. That includes narrowing the focus of what I write about and adding some video, primarily for reviews (I’ve been practicing lately on my Youtube channel – subscribe if you’re interested!). The videos aren’t perfect yet, but I’m working on them and hope to be turning out some better video reviews soon.
You might continue to see some changes around the blog as I tighten all the bolts and screws. I’m not super happy with the theme just yet, most of the pictures have become a bit blurry, and there are some other behind-the-scenes issues that I’m still working through. But the content is here and I’ll be looking to improve the look of everything in the coming weeks.
I won’t be able to post on every single deal or piece of news since I have a day job, but there are plenty of other bloggers do that anyway. What I hope to do is continue posting reviews of flights (like Emirates and Qantas First Class), hotels (like the Park Hyatt St. Kitts and Fairmont Maui Kea Lani), and reviews of credit cards and other opinion pieces (like the new Amex Rose Gold). As always, you’ll get unbiased reviews from me. I have no special connections to any airlines or hotels, and have no credit card affiliate links. The most I’ll throw at you is an amazon affiliate or an Amex referral link, but frankly I have better things to do than write a post just to make a dollar or two.
Basically, I’ll write more when I have time and less when I don’t. I hope every post you read will have something you can learn from…that’s my goal. I like writing, I like teaching, and it gives me joy to know I can help someone learn to save money or just be better informed when making a decision like picking an airline or hotel. I’m here to be helpful.
Feel free to follow me on twitter, instagram, facebook, and of course on this blog. I’m usually pretty good at responding to questions, and you can also email me at info@travelsummary.com.
Here’s to the next 7 years of blogging. Cheers!
