I switched to the Park Executive Suite on my second day at the Park Hyatt St. Kitts. You might be wondering why that’s the case, given that I just said the Sea View Suite was one of my favorite hotel rooms. Well…there’s a bit of a story.

The Director of Rooms, Adrian Petulo, found me and my wife taking pictures around one of the swimming pools early on our first full day at the property. He somehow knew exactly who I was and wanted to check in to see how everything was going. We hadn’t even been at the property for a full day yet so we didn’t have much feedback except to say the property looked beautiful. Later in the day, however, my wife and I visited the Spa and experienced several issues.
I won’t get into the details of those issues in this post (much more detail will be provided in the Spa review), but after that negative experience Adrian contacted me and asked if he could meet with me to understand the issues so he could fix them. I agreed, and Adrian listened to all my feedback on the Spa experience (and I had A LOT to say) and took detailed notes. What happened next kind of blew me away.
I use social media somewhat regularly and mentioned my Spa issue on Twitter at the time, and it seems Adrian did a bit of research on me prior to meeting me. He mentioned that one of his previous roles had him working in the Middle East, and also mentioned he saw my wife and I performed the Hajj pilgrimage this year (review and pics on that is upcoming).
He explained that he realizes some women are more conservative and don’t make use of the main swimming pools the hotel has, and then offered me an upgraded room that had it’s own plunge pool in case my wife or I didn’t feel comfortable using the main pools. It may not sound like much, but I was extremely impressed at this point.
Adrian connected a lot of dots about me and offered us the upgraded room without sounding a single bit presumptuous. He didn’t mention religion or say anything else that may have been interpreted negatively. The tact with which he did it was impressive to me in every way, and that was on top of the fact that he actually cared enough to have a meeting with me to understand what issues we had at the Spa. Frankly, the fact that he requested a meeting at all is more than most hotel operators/managers care to do.
I of course accepted Adrian’s offer for an upgraded room and thanked him for it very much. He upgraded me to what I believe is the highest room category that was available at the Park Hyatt St. Kitts: the Park Executive Suite. Additionally, he gave us the most private one available as it was at the end of the property (room #121, building #1).
Park Hyatt St. Kitts Park Executive Suite – Living Room
We were picked up in a golf cart again, and like last time, our luggage arrived in a separate golf cart. This room required taking a flight of stairs up, which wasn’t a problem for us but might be something to consider for those that are less mobile.
The living room was set up very similarly to the last one, with the main difference being the sofa – it was slightly smaller with no chaise in this room. Everything else was substantially the same.
Park Hyatt St. Kitts Park Executive Suite – Bedroom
The bedroom is where there’s one minor change that makes a huge impact. The bed faces directly out the floor-to-ceiling windows and out to the ocean to provide a spectacular view.
Making it even better, our building is built closest to the water of any of the property’s buildings, so when you’re in bed staring out the window, you almost feel like you’re over the water (only some palm fronds prevent the full effect). What an unbelievable view to wake up to.
Park Hyatt St. Kitts Park Executive Suite – Bathroom & Closet
I won’t use too many words to describe the bathroom and closet, as the are mostly the same as the Sea View Suite. Pictures should be sufficient here.
Park Hyatt St. Kitts Park Executive Suite – Deck, Plunge Pool, & View
Most of what I described above is substantially similar to the Sea View Suite, with the main difference being the orientation of the bed related to the windows. The most significant difference is actually outside. Whereas the Sea View Suite had a large balcony with a day bed and small table/chairs, the Park Executive Suite was much more impressive.
As you walk out to the deck, to the right there is a small table and four chairs similar to what the Sea View Suite had. I don’t imagine anyone would really make use of this table (you’ll see why in a second).
The rest of the deck has more useful items. There’s a nice outdoor living space with a sofa, chair and ottoman, coffee table, a couple of small tables, and even a sink.
A few steps up at the very end of the deck is a daybed similar to the one we had in our last room (and is pretty comfortable).
Then, of course, the star attraction of the room is the private plunge pool. The pictures should speak for themselves, because WOW what a view!
The pool itself isn’t huge, but keep in mind it’s not meant to be a full pool either. It’s really a great feature that my wife and I made use of. If I could nitpick and find a complaint, it would be that the pool isn’t heated (Adrian confirmed that heating them is in the plans for next year).
Even the night time view is great with the moon directly over the ocean in front of the room (helped by the fact that it was a super moon). The pool is lighted via a switch near the pool.
Views of the water and nearby islands is just simply amazing.
Adrian also pointed out that the building next to us is the Presidential Suite (I believe he said 3 bedrooms), which was still under construction but expected to be ready for Christmas.
Park Hyatt St. Kitts Park Executive Suite – Location & Summary
The private location of the room meant that proximity to the hotel facilities was sacrificed. It was quite a walk to get to anywhere on the property, aside from the beach. My wife and I were happy to walk to restaurants, and we even did so in heavy rain on one night, but I suspect most people would prefer to take a golf cart. Simply call the front desk from your phone room or one of the phones located on the outside of every building to request a pickup.
The room itself was nearly identical to the Sea View Suite, with two significant improvements: the orientation of the bed and the private plunge pool on the huge deck. The room was great, we had no complaints at all except the aforementioned distance relative to restaurants. Again, I don’t think there’s a bad room at the entire property, and this room was probably one of the best the property has to offer.
Video tour of the room:
Omar, good review, but not overly useful. Most people who visit will not be bloggers nor be upgraded because of a potentially awful review.
And I’m pretty certain the manager won’t have much time for ordinary guests. Maybe I’l start a blog:)
I certainly hope the spa issues get resolved, at least for my wife. Most services at these hotels are drastically overpriced.
In any event, thanks for the ongoing review.
Geoff – Adrian was talking to every single guest at the property every single day, not just us. I think any guest that experienced the issues we did would also receive the attention I did. It’s a small property where staff outnumber guests, so I don’t believe I received any special treatment.
Interesting. BTW, your spa experience must have been brutal. Anxious to hear about it.
Is there something wrong with the main pool that you didnt want to use it?
No, I used the main pool and it was great.
oh you mentioned something in the article about not using it? what was bad about it that scared your wife off? Creepy NJ dudes at the pool ?
Nothing bad about it, she just isn’t the type to use a public pool is all.
Were you able to get sun on the private deck? Also was it really private or could others see in?
Yes, there was sun on the deck. It was pretty private, but not 100%. If you notice the table with 4 chairs, behind it is open to the sidewalk/road below. Similarly at the daybed, there’s a view to the rest of the property if someone wanted to see. I wouldn’t walk around naked, but someone would have to really try to see you there.
Was the temp of the plunge pool sufficiently warm? Close to temp of main pool?
It was definitely a bit on the chilly side, but on a hot day would be fine. Main pools were more comfortable.
When will you be completing the rest of your review?
Looking forward to the restaurant review!
Btw I got this exact room and it is a Nevis peak suite not a park executive suite. The pools in the park executive are much bigger. Kind of misleading
Agreed. This is mislabeled. These are not pictures of the Park Exec Suite.
