It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen any premium cabin award availability on Singapore Airlines’ A380 flights. In fact, the last time I remember seeing it was when Singapore Airlines did a computer system upgrade that basically made all space available for booking using United miles – and that was about 14 months ago!
The route isn’t one of the long-haul routes, unfortunately, but it is to a popular destination. Singapore just upgraded their SIN-PVG (Singapore to Shanghai) route from a 777 to the A380, and it looks like they forgot to make the award availability switch. I don’t think this little oversight will last for long, so I recommend making your bookings as soon as possible if this is something you’re interested in.
I was able to find a nice itinerary from LAX-PVG-SIN, with the first leg on the UA 787 Dreamliner and the second on Singapore Airlines’ A380. United’s price for a trip from the US to Asia is 60K miles in Business Class. If you need help booking a trip like this, check out my guide to booking Star Alliance flights.
Availability is plentiful right now, at least for all the dates I checked in November. Have you found any other great flights using United?
Woohoo this is PERFECT for me! Just booked that same LAX-PVG-SIN route that you mentioned. Longer layover in PVG than I’d like but can’t really complain with these planes!
