The Citi ThankYou card normally has a bonus of 50,000 points, but there is currently an increased offer for 60,000 points, which is the highest I can recall seeing it. This is a great card to have from Citi given it’s bonus structure and how Citi is strengthening the ThankYou program.
The 60,000 point bonus is earned after spending $3,500 in 3 months, whereas the normal bonus was 50,000 for $3,000 spend. The card earns 3x on travel and gas and 2x on dining and entertainment with an annual fee of $95, which is waived the first year.
Citi ThankYou points transfer to:
- Air France-KLM
- Asia Miles
- Etihad Airways Guest
- EVA Air Infinity MileageLands
- Garuda Indonesia GarudaMiles
- Hilton HHonors
- Malaysia Airlines Enrich
- Qatar Airways Privilege Club
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
- Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
They may not sound like sexy options, but they can definitely be useful for specific items. You’d be doing yourself a favor to study some of the award charts of the above listed airlines. All transfer at a 1:1 ratio.
The real trick is this: by also having the ThankYou Prestige card, which is a premium card, those points can be redeemed for 1.6 cents per point on American Airlines and US Airways flights. For those new to the game, a 1.6 cents per point redemption rate is relatively strong. This deal, however, works better for those that want to travel Economy on cheap cash tickets.
Flights booked this way also earn miles, and those with status will do particularly well since they earn even more miles. It’s a complicated program, but it can also be very valuable if used correctly.
If you’re new to Citi, this is definitely the right card to start with. The bonus likely won’t get much better than this. What a great two days of credit card bonuses with yesterday’s 100K Amex deal!
I applied for this card about a week ago on the 50k offer (still have not received the card). Just called them asking if I could get the 60k offer. They wouldn’t budge but the rep gave me 1k TY points. Going to attempt again later to see if I can get moved over.
wow the same rep just called me back saying he spoke with his manager and putting my card on the 60k offer wouldn’t be an issue. He also said they were doing it for my account only specifically (which I don’t believe and them just wanting to make me feel special). Either way if anyone just applied try giving them a call.
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
After reading this, I secure messaged Citi to ask for the offer on my husband’s less-than-a-month-old card, and they just replied that the offer was added to my account! Whoo-hoo! I was dreading having to get my husband to call customer service himself!
Isn’t it a bit odd that literally 0 bloggers on BoardingArea are mentioning the AMEX platinum 100,000 point offer available to ANYONE who calls in. I expected it from lucky and gary, but not from you.
Should give credit to the original source…
