Ink Cards

The Ink Bold and Plus cards are by far the most valuable cards for manufactured spend (see why here). The bonus has also been one of the best at 50K Ultimate Rewards points, which is why I’ve had it those two cards at the very top of my Credit Cards page. Last night the bonus increased to 60K after $5K spend in 3 months. The annual fee of $95 is waived the first year. This will only last for a few days.

This is a fantastic deal, and it’s probably not going to get any better than this. If you have a churn/app-o-rama planned soon, it might be worth moving up the schedule to this week in order to get in on this deal.

As a reminder, this is a business card. If you sell items on eBay, Craigslist, or other re-sale sites…then you’re a sole proprietor and can use your Social Security number to apply. Remember – credit card companies, especially Chase, really want you to have the card. They’ll ask you questions about what types of products you buy, how much you spend, and a couple of other questions. When answering questions, treat it like an interview/resume – a little embellishment is probably fine, but don’t lie. You should get approved relatively easily as long as there aren’t any oddities on your credit report.

If you already have the Ink Bold/Plus cards and don’t feel like getting more for a second business, then you can also get an increased bonus for the Ink Cash and Classic cards, whose bonuses are now 25K.  These have no annual fee.

A Recommendation

A reader that applied today reminded me of something – don’t apply for these on the weekend. Chase’s reconsideration lines are closed on the weekends, and if you want to call immediately (which I recommend), then you should wait until Monday when they’re available. It’s rare that anyone gets instantly approved for these cards, so you’ll almost definitely need to call the reconsideration line. Read about my experience with the Ink Bold reconsideration line here.

On a separate note, if you applied for the Ink Bold recently, ask for the extra points! They will likely give it to you if it was recent.

Good luck!

  1. You made it sound like you can have more than one Ink Bold/Plus card if you have a second business. Is that correct?

    • Yes, that’s correct. I know people with 6 (!) Ink cards. They have both an Ink Bold and Plus card for three separate businesses. That was 300K UR points in just sign-up bonuses!
