Important Credit Card Updates

Some important credit card updates this week:

Ink Bold/Plus 60K Offer Ending June 1st

Ink 60K

The increased 60K offer is supposedly ending on 6/1, so if you were planning to get the card, now is the time. The normal offer is 50K, so it’s not the end of the world if you miss it. Still, you might as well get the extra 10K points if you can. The 5x on office supply stores is still one of the cheapest way to manufacture points, as long as you remember there’s a $50K/250K point limit per year.

Ink Bold – 60,000 bonus points

Ink Plus – 60,000 bonus points

Ink Cash – 30,000 bonus points

New SPG Amex 30K Offer

Another card you just can't go wrong with.

Another card you just can’t go wrong with.

The SPG card is one of my favorite cards, and has a permanent place in my wallet. Despite some recent difficulties with SPG, they’re loyalty program is still valuable and their points are the most valuable (in terms of cents-per-point) than any other points currency. In my opinion, it’s the best 1x card, and it’s a good debate whether to use the SPG card or Arrival card for non-bonused spending (and maybe a topic of discussion later).

Normally SPG waits until August to bump the bonus from 25K to 30K, but this year they decided to do it a bit earlier and a bit differently. You have to be referred by someone that already has the card in order to get the 30K bonus (and the person that referred you also gets a 5K bonus).

If you’re interested in this offer and also wouldn’t mind helping me get some referral points, please email the following to info (at)

  • First and Last Name.
  • Email address (if different from the one you’re emailing me from).
  • Whether you want the personal or business card referral.

If you have the card and want to refer others, you can click these Personal and Business links.

New Chase Freedom 20K Offer

The Chase Freedom card has no annual fee and has 5x categories that rotate on a quarterly basis. Sometimes the categories are useless, but other times you’ll get something like grocery stores or drugstores where you can easily manufacture spend. The only downside is that you’re limited to $1.5K each quarter for the 5x bonus (so 7,500 points). Still, it can be very useful to have. I have one and don’t plan on cancelling it since it has no fee, and it has a spot in my wallet right now because one of the 5x categories right now is restaurants.

Here’s a link to the increased offer. I haven’t seen one this high in quite some time (usually you’ll get 10K), but I was lucky and got it at 30K a few years back. I’m not sure it’ll get that high again.

  1. The freedom was that high maybe 7 months ago. Not really “quite some time”. You didn’t say that about the SPG and that’s about yearly.
